Laura Sherman, CEP

CEO & Co-Founder

Laura Sherman is our energy markets expert and an accomplished business leader who drives the strategic direction of the company, delivering success with integrity, transparency, and respect.

 

With nearly two decades of experience in the energy industry and a successful prior career as a commercial facility designer, Laura has a deep understanding of both energy markets and Commercial & Industrial building infrastructure. At SES, she personally consults with each customer on their energy portfolio, from advising on complex purchasing decisions and sharing market insights to finding opportunities to reduce costs in a rapidly changing energy landscape.

 

Laura is passionate about advancing the role of women in energy and business. As a member of The Council on Women in Energy & Environmental Leadership (CWEEL), and alumna of Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses, she is honored to be a mentor to the next generation of entrepreneurs and energy leaders.

 

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Northeastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from the Harrington Institute. Before joining SES, Laura held a senior position in energy business development and worked as a senior facility designer on projects for two Fortune 100 companies. Laura is certified as a Certified Energy Professional (CEP) by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Tom Sherman, CEM, CEA, CDSM, CCASS

President & Co-Founder

Tom spearheads our energy efficiency practice.  He has worked in the energy field for more than 35 years.  During Tom’s tenure at FirstEnergy Corporation, PCX Energy Services, and Sustainable Energy Services, Tom has conducted hundreds of energy audits, performed over 1,000 utility bill audits and tariff reviews, investigated and resolved hundreds of energy-related issues, and implemented a broad range of energy efficiency projects. 

 

Tom is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). He is also a regular speaker at the annual AEE World Energy Conference, AEE East & West Conferences, Operator Training Committee of Ohio, Ohio Energy Conference, and numerous trade conferences.

 

Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Northeastern Illinois University and his MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. He is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), a Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM). and a Certified Compressed Air System Specialist (CCASS).
